A Little Drop of Sunshine

I have a bit of a passion for all things black. Black boots, black dresses, black jeans, black bags and the list goes on. One of my friends even commented that she thought I was a goth. She obviously did not understand the meaning of the term but nevertheless, black seems to be my colour. Which presents a bit of a problem in the summer months. In London, I can get away with it. It is grey and rainy all of the time except for about one month of the year. But there are not many places where you can wear black day in and day out in the warmer months.

Cue the colourful accessories. My new favourite being socks. These yellow ones provide a little ray of sunshine to whatever I am wearing. Now I wouldn't go pairing them with hot pink but with black and other dark colours they are just right. A hint of the warmer months ahead. The pink sunglasses and denim jacket also contribute to making the look less morbid. All black can be classic and chic (think Audrey Hepburn) but only in the right circumstances of course. I personally have a whole array of black dresses, some of which are purely summer dresses. I love this one because the midi length is great and if you look closely the whole dress is tightly pleated. If you haven't realised, I love anything pleated, except pleated mini skirts, I draw the line there. I am sure I will add more black dresses to my summer wardrobe in the future. So if you must wear a black summer dress, make sure you brighten it up with a few colourful accessories.
